Top Tips for car hire in Los Angeles

Driving is easy in LA, a city built around the motor car. Rent a car at Los Angeles airport and follow the wide, multi-lane roads for 18 miles into the city centre. The maximum speed on most California highways is 65mph. Some highways have a higher limit, of 70mph, and this will be clearly indicated where applicable. On undivided highways, the limit is 55mph. Both drivers and passengers are legally required to wear a seatbelt, and the blood alcohol limits are the same as in England and Wales. It's also illegal to have open containers of alcohol in the car, so if you've stopped off at a supermarket to pick up beer for later, make sure you store it in the boot rather than on the back seat.
